Therapies Used
All therapies can bring about change, if there's a desire to do so, but depending on the problem, some therapies are more effective than others. I work in an eclectic way, utilising a variety of techniques depending on the client. Here are some of the therapies I may use or integrate:-
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a powerful form of energy psychology that helps eliminate painful emotions, physical pain and psychological problems by tapping on certain parts of the body. Praised by Deepak Chopra, used by celebrities and medical professionals, it is recognised as the new healing tool of the 21st century.
During the session you focus on the problem and say it out loud whilst either you or I tap on certain points around your face and upper body whilst fully clothed. The tapping routine takes about 1-2minutes to apply and is completely safe. Depending on the complexity, most issues respond after a few sessions and you’re left with a logical understanding or a rational response to the problem ….and it rarely returns. EFT has been shown in studies and clinical trials to help with anxiety, trauma, stress, phobias, weight loss, fears, grief, addiction, depression and even reduce the intensity of pain and side effects of cancer treatment.
Hypnotherapy is hypnosis with therapy and has been used for hundreds of years as a theraputic tool. By gently taking you into a relaxed state, the therapist can talk to your subconscious mind and suggest changes. It's all very natural and very safe. Modern hypnotherapists use hypnosis not only for medical purposes, but also as an aid for the resolution of many problems that are psychological in origin. All age groups will readily respond to Hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy is like meditation, visualisation or daydreaming. You are aware and in control at every moment and you can terminate the session at any time. It is impossible for you to "get stuck" in a state of hypnosis, and you cannot be made to do something that is against your will. I am not a stage hypnotist.
It is the most effective way of giving up smoking according to the largest ever scientific comparison of ways of breaking the habit. It is endorsed by and used by medical practitioners. Researchers at the University of Manchester believe hypnosis relieves symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome IBS). It has also been proven to reduce blood pressure
NLP (neuro linguistic programming) Psychotherapy in a nutshell, covers a number of different therapeutic philosophies but mainly concentrates on how a person views and responds to the world and those in it based on their experiences. From a neurolinguistic point of view there are four dimensions to being: physical, social, psychological and spiritual. Treatment consists of focusing on each of these dimensions, raising awareness of the problem and any related unconscious behaviours whilst guiding the client towards effective and manageable change. The client is always in charge of the process and what outcome they desire. Results are that people's feelings about themselves and their situations become happier, more self-confident, and more effective in dealing with life's stresses.
