“The causes of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy systems”
It’s preferable to have had a glass of water before & during the EFT process as dehydration can cause interference with the treatment. You may feel light headed, tingly or feel emotional. These are all normal and not harmful (read disclaimer below).
Firstly, concentrate on the issue (let’s say for this exercise you have a throbbing headache over your left eye). Now make a note of the degree of intensity as you feel now, on a scale from 0 (nothing) to 10 (very high).
1. Set up (Affirmation)

Repeat a phrase that describes the issue and follow it up with a positive phrase. Do this 3 times whilst continually tapping with fingers of other hand Side of Hand as above. Here's an example for a headache:
1. ”Even Though I have this throbbing headache over my left eye” (with pain especially be as specific as possible) ......I accept myself as I am or I’m OK as I am” . Repeat 3 times
2. Sequence
Focus again on the (issue) and whilst doing so, tap about 7/8 times on each of the following energy points with your index & middle finger whilst repeating the above affirmation. Whilst tapping on these points you can shorten the phrase to (say) “headache over eye”.

3. 9 Gamut procedure. (not always necessary)
Locate the Gamut Point on the back of the hand [1/2” behind the midpoint between the knuckles at the base of the ring finger and the little finger] and perform these 9 actions to both stimulate and activate left and right sides of the brain. Whilst tapping carry out the following actions…
Close eyes
Open eyes
Without moving head look downwards to left
Without moving head look downwards to right
Roll eyes as if following hands of a clock from right to left
Roll eyes as if following hands of a clock from left to right
Hum 2 lines of song (say) happy birthday
Count out loud to 5 fast
Hum 2 lines of song again
NB: If these 9 steps are too difficult, try [without moving your head] slowly looking up to the ceiling and then down to the floor (approx 8 secs each way) close eyes for 30secs
4. Do Sequence again but do not repeat 9 Gamut Procedure.
At the end of this session, think of the intensity again and check if it’s come down. If it hasn’t come down to a satisfactory level (below 3) repeat The Sequence up to under the arm only this time use a “remainder phrase” to (say) “even though I still have this headache over my eye…..”. Keep the same tapping sequence but replace short phrase with “remaining headache…” Test level again and repeat until it has come down to a level that you are comfortable with.
If your level of intensity hasn't come down much or at all - perhaps you need to seek the help of an EFT practitioner.
